An event for frontline staff and managers involved in RAP across the PNT (Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Alberta) was recently held in Calgary. Agencies came together to learn and discuss pressing issues within newcomer resettlement, including Afghan resettlement.
This two-day event in December was an opportunity for attendees to gain insight and knowledge shared from a variety of agencies. Topics of discussion included newcomer retention in small centres, housing, promising practices in health, and collaboration within the PNT region. Through Individual speakers, panel discussions and breakout rooms, further conversations were held on how the region can better serve clients and staff.
In all, a great event! Frontline staff and managers were able to learn new and diverse best practices to help assist newcomers within their communities. The sector is hoping to replicate this type of event for all regions across Canada.
We also wanted to give a special thank you to PrimaCorp Ventures Inc. and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for sponsoring this event.
